The 55th Reunion Events
for the 'Cake Eaters' of the Class of 1959:

We were happy to see all of you 'Cake Eaters' from the Class of 1959 at the 55th Reunion. It was an eventful four days of gathering with old friends and making new ones.
From those 160 or so who attended the reunion events, we received only positive comments of thanks, friendship and recollection.

  • Mary Key Markuson: "...the memorial service was so moving, the (Lyceum) programs so interesting...the 55th was the best reunion ever!"
  • Chris Foster Meloni: "...I enjoyed doing the Lyceum and have received a lot of positive feedback."
  • Peter Warner: "...very interesting to hear about Bill Feidt's efforts with foster kids..."
  • Kathy Kaliher Hussey: "...that wonderful bus tour and information about the Washburn family-fascinating."
  • Tom Brown: "...thank you for all you and the committe do to organize the reunions. They are just great!"
  • Howard Thorsheim: "...the entire thing has been a terrific success!"

At Camp Ihduhapi, the Lyceum was a "terrific success," the Lyceums were presented by a group of gifted and interesting people: Nancy Langer, Kirky Munson Otto, Terry and Carol Parssinen, Howard Thorsheim, Bill Feidt, Chris Foster Meloni and Mary Ireland Swenson, a faculty that did us proud. Karl Nelson, and Bill Wangensteen's musical accompaniment were a part, which acknowledged something about the life of our departed classmates.

The Reunion Committee is now preparing for our 75th Birthday Party that will be held June 18, 2016 at the Fort Snelling Officers Club and our 60th Class Reunion for a weekend in September, 2019.

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Mammen. Larry was the driving force behind our Class Reunions for the past 30+ years.

For the future, the Reunion Committee will be guided by Nancy Hallman Pinzka, Chair; Lorna Plowman Best, Correspondence; George Christoferson, Treasurer, and the following committee members: Jenneane Kunitz Anderson, Dick Bergman, Bonnie Nordstrom Frane, Peter Landmark, Mary Mammen, Paul Neuville, Larry Rennerfeldt, Jim Rummel, Jim Rustad, Rolf Svendsen, Kay Thomas, Bill Wangensteen.

The 75 birthday party and Reunion 60 should be fun and a good time for all!

THURSDAY, September 11th - Golf Outing at Braemar in Edina

Golf Outing Several members enjoyed the opportunity to participate in our golf outing. It was a chilly day on the golf course but everyone had a great time. At the end of the day we had the awarding of prizes and trophies.

The golf outing was held at Braemar Golf Course, located at 6364 John Harris Drive Edina, MN   55439.

Friday, September 12th - Camp Ihduhapi

Camp Ihduhapi
Again for our 55 Reunion we had a full day and evening at Camp Ihduhapi. For those who who spent the night at camp, bunks in the Bunkhouse were available for a nominal charge.

Our day included a continental breakfast at the Dining Hall during arrival and check in. Then we had the Memorial Service at the hillside chapel. After the Memorial Service there was social time and Lunch. In the afternoon the Lyceums were held and they had many topics of interest that were informative and interesting. The Lyceums were well received by those in attendance and a huge thank-you goes out to all the presenters.

Saturday, September 13th - Bus Tour of Minneapolis and St. Paul

City Tour
Rolf led the bus tour of downtown Minneapolis, St. Paul and the lakes. This was a completely different tour from the ones in previous years and highlighted many of the features unique to the cities. It followed the route taken in the Twin Cities annual marathon.

Saturday, September 13th - Dinner for Classmates at the Fort Snelling Officers Club

Dinner
The Fort Snelling Officers Club was chosen for our reunion dinner because it is convenient to all, has 'free' and easy parking, is very reasonably priced and has been subject to great reviews from those who have attended our class birthday parties there the past couple of years.
We had Cocktails, Dinner and then a few words from President Rolf Svendsen and a open mike to hear from some of our classmates. After that we had a lot of socializing with old friends. A good time was had by all.

We did acknowledge that the 55th Reunion would be a notch below that which we did for our 50th. That, as you all know, was truly a special, 'once-in-a-lifetime' event. We do, however, hope everyone who attended our 55th Reunion enjoy it as much as we did.
